Welcome

Hello and welcome to my blog.

My name is Zachary Gross.  I am 21 years old.  I am a senior at Eternity Bible College (EBC) preparing to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Advanced Biblical and Cultural Exegesis. I am also the Junior High Ministries Director at Agoura Bible Fellowship (ABF).  All that to say I spend many waking hours studying and meditating on scripture, the Christian life, and its manifold, multifaceted, multidimensional (Eph. 3:10) reality.  I thoroughly believe that the Scriptures are a unified story that leads to Jesus. He is my savior and my Rabbi. I want to be with him, become like him, and do what he did.

Why start a blog?

As I study, think, and reflect each week whether for my classes at EBC or my messages or Bible Studies with Junior High Students at ABF.  I have many thoughts.  Some profound. Some not. That study and thought often has to be honed and specified for a homework assignment or sermon deadline. I wanted a space to be able to chase that rabbit trail, think out loud without it need to meet a grade or be sure enough to teach it to students. A blog felt like a simple, low stakes and, meaningful way to share these thoughts with others and hone my ability to summarize those thoughts in an engaging way. So ultimately this is for me. If it’s a blessing for you that is an added bonus.

What to expect?

Each Sunday my plan is to share:

1. A Quote.  The wise words of a fellow saint that struck me followed by an explanation of why it stuck out and an exploration of what it could look like to sit with this sage and hear their wisdom.

2. A Scripture. A few verses or a passage that I spent time that week thinking about, studying, meditating on or memorizing along with why it stuck out and the relevance it has.

That’s it. Pretty simple. Nothing groundbreaking. But maybe it will resonate with you. Or maybe this process will just be for myself.

I don’t really know, but I’m getting the ball rolling.
